Special Collections
Civil War
The Library is especially proud of its extensive Civil War collection of more than 200 volumes on all aspects of the Civil War period.
This collection was made possible through the generous donations of Mr. Ray Pleiness and is being added to regularly. All items from this collection are entered in the New Hampshire State Library data base, and are available to any resident of the State through Interlibrary Loan at his/her home library.
Gardening Collection
Over the years the Hampstead Garden Club had amassed a collection of gardening books that had no real home.
In 2004 they decided to donate the collection to the library so that the wealth of material in the books would be available to the whole community. The books are shelved primarily in the 635s with some also in the 712s in the non-fiction section on the second floor. Just ask a staff member for assistance in locating the books.
All the Garden Club books are identified by a special bookplate inside the front cover. The Hampstead Garden Club has its own web site with gardening tips, information about the club and a list of the books that form the collection in the library. Go to http://www.hampsteadgarden.org.
